Packing Tips & Tricks

I have always had to rely on my mom to do all my packing for me. She does it so effortlessly and with so much prowess. One thing I noticed though, is that my bag/suitcase never looks as neat when I do the packing. So the last time my mom packed my bag, I noticed a few packing tips & tricks she used and I’d like to share them with you:

Have a packing list

You probably don’t fancy the idea of using a list to pack but you’ll be surprised at how much time it can save you. Also, you don’t want to reach your destination only to realize you’ve forgotten something really important. A packing list will help you pack everything you need for your trip.

Roll your clothes, don’t fold

Opt to roll your clothes instead of folding them. When you roll your clothes, they take up lesser space than when you fold them. This trick will help you make use of all the available space in your bag/suitcase.
Have your essentials and an extra pair of clothes in your carry-on
This may sound like a bad idea until you accidentally lose your luggage. Make sure you have your essentials and an outfit change with you while travelling – you never know when they may come in handy.

Pack your liquids in a separate bag

There’s always that small space that will tempt you to squeeze in your lotion – resist that temptation by all means! Things like body lotions, hair oils, and perfumes have a way of just creating a mess. Make sure to pack them in a separate bag, preferably a ziplock or a travel toiletry bag.

Use packing cubes

If you are one of those people who like their stuff arranged in a particular way, then this tip is for you. Make good use of packing cubes as this will help you organize your things really well. There isn’t anything as good as knowing where exactly something is when you open your suitcase.

Do you have any other packing tips that you feel I haven’t included in my list? Please share in the comments section below.
