About Double OmSome
Double OmSome discovered his love for music at a very young age. While still in class two or three, he recalls hearing “I Can” by Nas, a moment that sparked his determination to pursue a career in music. By the time he completed primary school, he was already writing his own songs, including an ambitious long verse that reflected his early dedication and creativity. Music quickly became his calling, and he knew he wanted to turn this passion into a lifelong pursuit.
His musical journey gained momentum when he joined Mombasa Secondary School, where he recorded his first single, “Zuena”, under the guidance of his first producer, Master Kinoo. The track, a Swahili love song, featured an artist from Likoni, and many of Double OmSome’s classmates contributed financially to the recording, earning mentions in the song. This early support helped him realize the collaborative nature of music production and laid the foundation for his future career. After high school in 2008, he co-founded a crew called “The Schools” with Samchizi. Although the group eventually dissolved as Samchizi moved into video production, they managed to release an album together, marking the start of Double OmSome’s professional journey.
Over the past thirteen years, Double OmSome has built an impressive discography and a reputation for innovation. He has produced three albums, including Never Lay Low (9 tracks), Fuatilizia, and a self-produced album created entirely on a smartphone. These works highlight his versatility, dedication, and willingness to experiment with different production methods. Double OmSome’s story demonstrates that talent, persistence, and early passion can translate into a sustainable and evolving music career.
