Even though children can be an uplifting source of joy in our lives, they can also be a nuisance sometimes. From the kid throwing tantrums at the store just because they were told “No” to get their favourite toy, to the kid who can’t stay in their seat during flights, to the kid who just doesn’t listen to what they are told.
“You can learn many things from children. How much patience you have, for instance.”
~Franklin P. Jones
Sometimes, kids can cause us migraines. But what do you do when you need to go on a vacation with kids? Of course, you can’t leave them behind just because they’re going to disturb you. So here are some tips that will make travelling with kids easier:
Have a checklist
When travelling with kids, knowing what to carry and what not to carry may be hard. So it is important to have a checklist of the items you need to pack. A checklist will help you pack wisely; ignoring the things your baby may not need and therefore helping you not to overpack too in the process. If you have extra space and you’re wondering what else to add, always go for baby wipes – they always come in handy.
Plan your flights
If possible, book night flights. Travelling with a baby at night is easier because they will spend a better part of the flight sleeping. And who doesn’t know that a sleeping baby is a blessing to everyone? Also, take advantage of the time your baby will be sleeping and get some rest too. You wouldn’t want to reach your destination all jet-lagged and sleep-deprived, right?
Book self-catering apartments
Self-catering apartments have gained popularity over time. This is because they are like your regular houses but on vacation. Booking you and your kid(s) a self-catering apartment while on holiday will definitely make things a whole lot easier for you. Preparing their special diets and having enough space for your kids to play will be in the least of your worries!
Well, of course, your kids are not products to be branded. But you wouldn’t want to lose them at the mall either. If you will be visiting a public place where there might be chances of your kid getting lost, you can write your name and phone number on their arm so that when they get lost, you can be contacted easily. Alternatively, you could invest in a GPS tracking device and follow your kids along via the app.
Understand that your kids can’t keep up with all the hustles and bustles around the airport. Take your time before getting off the aeroplane so that your kids don’t end up being pushed along the aisle. Just take it slow and go with the flow – you’re here to enjoy!
